Living in Houston, TX brings a certain joy that is indescribable. The environment, people and the culture of this city without a doubt makes this wondrous place one of the best cities in the United States. Although, being born and raised here, this could be a slightly biased statement. The truth however, is that whatever atmosphere you prefer, Houston and the surrounding cities provide exactly what you’re looking for. If you prefer the beach life, there is Galveston, which lies about an hour outside of Houston. And if you prefer somewhere that has more of a country feel, there are places like Rosenberg, Conroe and Montgomery just to name a few.
My husband and I, along with my BFF, her husband and my sister and her date, had the pleasure of being invited to an all white boat party in Montgomery this past weekend. I would love to provide my readers with this magical experience at this great resort in Montgomery, but unfortunately I can not. We were advised to reserve a room at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa for after the party so that we wouldn’t have to drive all the way home afterwards, which in fact was not a bad idea. The Hotel, not really a resort, was not what we were expecting and actually was quite a disappointment. From the long lines at the only set of elevators, to the very uncomfortable beds that left you with lower back aches, this place is definitely not worth the price. The Boat party however, was fun and entertaining with an incredible DJ. The drinks were quite watered down, but the spectacular breeze and calming scenery made up for that. The boat lacked the luxury and luster of an actual yacht, but we all made the most of it.
Though my details of a weekend filled with greater expectations than received may be quite daunting, this should not sway your opinion of Houston, Conroe and Montgomery Texas. The winding roads, the calm waters of Lake Conroe and the friendly people of Montgomery alone make it a destination that one should definitely partake in.
